“How to Surge-Protect Yourself from STRESS”

What happens when you plug ten appliances into one outlet and turn them all on at the same time?  You blow a circuit!  The same thing can happen when you surge an unprotected Nerve System with STRESS.

Picture your Nerve System as an electrical outlet with multiple stressors plugged in.  Turn them all on at the same time and POW – you overload the system, fry a circuit and ruin your good state of health.  Chiropractors call this a SUBLUXATION.  Depending on what nerves (circuits) are blown, you could experience symptoms from minor aches and pains to more significant health problems like High Blood Pressure (Journal of Human Hypertension, 22,1: G Bakris, MD et al.)

Although it's impossible to turn off all the stress in your life, you can guard against unexpected surges with regular Chiropractic Care.  Chiropractors perform their job like a surge protector – skillfully monitoring your Nerve System for overloads and ADJUSTING circuits back to normal when necessary.  When it comes to fighting stress and dis-ease, nothing beats keeping your power ON with Chiropractic!

Dr.'s Vegetable Soup with Zing!

OK, I have had some people ask about this soup so let me explain how I cook. I roughly follow directions, if I like some part of a recipe I will add more than suggested amount. Plus when you make soup and the recipe calls for 1 cup of squash and you are left with 2 cups why not just add that to the pot. So my recipes don't have cups or quarts, you just have to feel what a good amount is, but when it comes to veggies the more the better!

Olive oil                           Onion
Garlic                               Celery with leaves
Squash                             Zucchini
Bell peppers                     Broccoli
Cauliflower                       Mushrooms
Carrots                             Spinach
Potato                              Basil
Parsley                             other options to try (green beans, lentils, shirataki noodles or other tofu
Can of diced tomatoes with chilies (or plain if you don't like spice)
Stock (I used chicken) start with a quart and go up from there
small can of Tomato paste

In a Large pot, saute diced onions and garlic in oil, season with basil and parsley. Add stock and paste.
Here is the tricky part, chop up the vegetables to a size you like (spoon size). I have my boys help chop with a safe vegetable chopper. Add the vegetables to the pot and cook. You may need to add more stock depending on how many veggies you add.

VIDALIA CHOP WIZARD

Here is an idea, I took my boys to the store and told them to pick out 10 vegetables to put in the soup...What a great opportunity to teach them the names and then have them help prepare the dish. When I have a specific  list of veggies I need, I will draw pictures of them from my 4 year old, and give my 7 year old a written list. Then explain why this vegetable is important to eat.

“Innate and the Three Bears”

Remember the lead character in Goldilocks and the Three Bears?  She didn't settle for too hot, or too cold – too hard, or too soft.  She kept trying until she found what was JUST RIGHT.  When it comes to fighting disease, your body innately strives for the same thing.
Disease is nothing more than your body performing too much or too little of something.  If your thyroid is UNDER active, you have hypothyroidism.  If your lungs OVER react to dust in the air, you experience asthma.  If your heart pumps too HARD, you have high blood pressure.  Health on the other hand is when your body is clearly directed by its inner wisdom to produce, adapt, regenerate, secrete, eliminate, filter and metabolize to a degree that's JUST RIGHT.
Chiropractors recognize that no doctor, pharmacy or research lab on the planet can live up to the awesome task of keeping EVERYTHING in your body working JUST RIGHT.  Only innate intelligence, the immeasurable genius within you, is capable of handling that job.  The best we can do as Chiropractors is to remove the stress that gets in its way.   When we do, we know innate will only settle for what's JUST RIGHT inside you.

“Research Reveals the Key for Relieving Neck Pain”

Your neck is stiff, sore and locked up.  Sleeping comfortably is a major feat and it takes an hour just to get moving in the morning.  Should you call your doctor for a prescription, or maybe try a new pillow?  In your case, a Chiropractor may hold the right key.
In addition to supporting the body's innate healing processes, a bonus effect of Chiropractic adjustments is the alleviation of neck pain.  A recent study funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and published in theAnnals of Internal Medicine verified that after 12 weeks patients who used a Chiropractor and exercise were more than twice as likely to be pain free compared to those who relied on medicine… and no side effects!
You wouldn't use chemicals to burn down your front door if you had the right key to open it in the first place, so why do that to your body? When it comes to unlocking a stubborn, painful neck it's best to seek the care of a master locksmith (a Chiropractor) whose care is precise and backed by research.  In the long run you'll save time, money and frustration using the right key for the job.
